The Sanya Central Business District was named as one of the eleven key industrial parks in China’s southern province of Hainan when the country released the master plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port in June 2020. The park is positioned to develop the headquarters economy, financial services, modern commerce & trade, cruise & yacht, professional services, and recreation culture industries.

By the end of March this year, the park had planned or completed more than 80 major projects (each with at least a 5 million yuan investment). The total investment made in these major projects was around 56.9 billion yuan (about $8.45 billion).
