Nowadays, the construction of the national southern breeding base in Hainan has been upgraded to a major national development strategy, becoming one of the three major strategic industries of the Hainan Free Trade Port.  

“I picked out ‘5997’ as my license plate number, as September 7 is Yuan Longping’s birthday” - Choking up slightly, Liu Bo, director of the China Agricultural University’s Hainan Seed Breeding Base shares an intimate insight into an otherwise ordinary detail of his life. As one of many thousands of agricultural scientists based in Hainan, Liu Bo has poured over a decade of his youth and passion into his work. From his dedication, not only has a career grown, but so has love and a family.
