Ding’an to hold Herb Cultural Festival during May Holiday

Since ancient times, there has been a custom of "wearing herbs to keep off insects and ailments" for Chinese people in the fifth lunar month. From April 30th to May 4th, a wide variety of activities will be held in a herb garden in northeastern Hainan’s Ding’an County to celebrate an Herb Cultural Festival.

Highlights of the Festival

Visit the very first Herb Museum on the island (for free)

Here, you will learn more about the ancient history of the spice trade road and the technology of herb distillation, as well as how different varieties of herbs are used in China and other countries. Scientific knowledge classes will be held from 10:00 to 11 00, 15:00-16:00, and 17:00-18:00 in the museum every day. A wall of almost 600 varieties of fragrant plant specimens will also be on display to mesmerize your eyes and your nose!

Experience traditional Chinese herb culture

Learn how to make your own herb sachet according to an ancient Chinese formula, or try on Han Chinese Clothing and pose for stunning photos.

Entertain your little ones

If you are travelling with children, the park adventure program, archery, animal garden, and many other areas are the perfect way to entertain your kiddos, and entertain you as well!

Additionally, you can take a break by camping in the garden and enjoy mouthwatering delicacies made from fresh-picked herbs grown right on the premises.
