A Special “Li Brocade show” at the Market in Wuzhishan

Have you ever thought to see a fashion show in a vegetable market? Would you think it possible? Likely?

This past Saturday, these two seemingly incompatible things were combined together at Wuzhishan's weekly "Good Goods" Market.

On the morning of November, 6th, holding parasols and dressed in fashionable clothing made from Li Brocade, a group of elegant ladies strolled through the Wuzhishan “Good Goods” Market as a promotional activity showing off the beauty of modern clothing made with Li design elements. This fresh combination of fashion show and vegetable market not only drew the attention of people at the market, it also attracted much attention online. Many people took the opportunity provided by this surprising show to make some small purchases of creative cultural products featuring Li Brocade.

Currently, the city of Wuzhishan is trying to build a spiritual home for the fine culture of the Li and Miao ethnic minority groups. One of the ways this is being done is by putting on various kinds of pop up shows at the “Good Goods” Market held every Saturday. As for what will be at the next show, we also don’t know but we’re looking forward to what will surely be a pleasant surprise.
