Reserve in Hubei provides cool refuge from July heat

With an average temperature around 18 C since July 1, the Shennongjia Natural Reserve is attracting tourists who want to escape the summer heat and take in cool autumn views. 

Located in northwestern Hubei province, Shennongjia has an average altitude of about 1,700 meters. 

As one of the best examples of a natural reserve with a subtropical forest ecosystem, Shennongjia was listed as a World Heritage Site by  UNESCO in 2016.
