38 Hainan Tropical Ocean University teachers to teach abroad

On May 31, the opening ceremony of the Pre-Teaching Training for the 2021 Hainan Tropical Ocean University Teaching Program was held at Hainan University, with officials & teachers from Hainan University & Hainan Tropical Ocean University in attendance.

According to Liao Minsheng, Vice Principal of Hainan Tropical Ocean University, the Teaching Program, funded by the China - ASEAN Maritime Cooperation Fund, is one of the eight projects of the China - ASEAN ocean cultural cooperation and exchange. This program is a way for China to promote the cultural development of the Maritime Silk Road as well as carry out its responsibilities for cultural exchange with ASEAN countries. Liao also mentioned that this is the 3rd year that the Project has been held, and the number of participating teachers has grown from last years 12 to this years 38.

According to Ung Vantha, Consul General of the Cambodian Consulate General in Haikou, Cambodia and Hainan have had frequent, extensive cooperation in the areas of economy, education, and culture over the past few years, and the teaching program has further strengthened the relationship between the two sides. Vantha also expressed his sincere gratitude towards the teachers who will come to teach Chinese language and culture in Cambodia.

The Pre-Teaching Training course includes Chinese cultural knowledge, intercultural communication, teaching skills, and teaching psychology. After the 38 teachers complete the two-week training course, they will split up and head out to 8 ASEAN countries and begin teaching Chinese.
