“The earth is a treasure of great worth.” Efforts made by Haikou City, in South China’s Hainan Province, to restore the ecosystem are playing an important role in climate regulation and preservation of local biodiversity.

Xinjiugou Wetland Park, one of many rich, lush wetlands found on this tropical Chinese island, is located in Longtang Town, Qiongshan District, in Haikou. The Park boasts rich biodiversity and is home to a variety of water plants and numerous species of water birds. It covers a total area of 1,638 hectares with five new administrative villages included as its outer boundary.
