Hainan, a tropical island located in the southernmost part of China, has much more than just sun-drenched beaches, lush green mountains, and cool blue waters. It also has fantastic rice! On May 23, the 2nd Qiongshan Rice Festival was held at the Qiongshan Rice Base in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province. On that day, Tommy Coleman, Chairman of Haikou Let’s Go English School as well as an OCO (Overseas Communication Officer) of the HIMC (Hainan International Media Center), from California in the U.S.A, was invited to attend the Festival. He also scored an invitation to join the local farmers as they harvested in the golden rice paddy, but that’s not all — there he also learned a bit about the local history.
