On April 21, ambassadors to China from different countries including Bangladesh, Chile, Croatia, and Jordan took the opportunity to visit Boao's Liuke Village. One of the "ancestral hometowns" of overseas ethnic Chinese, Liuke is particularly well known for the historic Cai family mansion. This courtyard home, which integrates oriental and ocidental style, is sometimes referred to as "the greatest courtyard home" or "the number one courtyard home" of overseas ethnic Chinese.
“I am really impressed by this beautiful and historic village. The efforts at preservation and the management of the area really make it feel like this is something outside of the day to day world," said the Jordanian ambassador to China Hussam A.G. AI Husseini.
When walking around the courtyard, the ambassadors all commented on the ancient buildings' moss green bricks and gray tiles, as well as the surrounding environment's cobblestone roads and old trees.
Before they left the village, children in Qiong Opera costume put on a uniquely Hainanese show for the ambassadors.
