Hainan’s new adventure tourism project, skydiving, kicked off in the city of Wanning on March 15. At the Meiya Airport, a skydiving instructor dived down from a plane, parachuting down gracefully to the admiration of spectators and the media.

A visitor who participated in the debut event took off from the Wanning Meiya Airport in a small aircraft with the instructor. After a nearly 20-minute flight providing a spectacular view of Wanning’s mountains and the sea, the duo jumped out of the cabin from a height of 4,000 meters. They finally landed at the Shenzhou Peninsula in the southeast.

It marked the launch of the city government’s special project to develop Wanning’s coastal resort tourism industry and enrich tourism resources as it aims to develop the city into a renowned tourist destination.

The initiative will offer BASE jumping, diving down from buildings, antennas, bridge spans or cliffs, using a parachute.
