Sanya Tourism still hot after the holiday

Over the past few days, although the Spring Festival holiday has passed, a continuous stream of hotel guests and travelers are still coming to visit Sanya. For the 2021 Spring Festival holiday, the number of inbound and outbound visitors on the second day of the Chinese (Lunar) New Year rose rapidly, and on the fifth and sixth day of the Chinese New Year the numbers of inbound travelers peaked. As of now though, the post-holiday tourism fever is still burning hot!

On February 19, in Sanya’s Tianya Haijiao park (also known as the End of the Earth),a lot of visitors came to enjoy the ocean waves, take pictures of the "Tianya" stone, and try the thrilling water sports. On that day, nearly 7,000 people visited the park. Wuzhizhou Island is also popular with visitors this year. “The number of tourists on the island over these two days was 8 to 9 thousand, which is comparable to the typical visitor amount during the Spring Festival holiday,” explained Chen Hong, a staff member.

The increase in hotel occupancy in Sanya after the festival also reflects the popularity of off-peak travel. In the resort areas such as Haitang and Yalong Bay, where there are large numbers of hotels, the occupancy rate reached more than 90% over the past two days, even higher than the early Spring Festival holiday. For example, the occupancy rate of MGM Grand Sanya during the Spring Festival holiday was about 80%, and after the holiday the occupancy rate went up to 90%, and there were even times where the hotel had no vacancies at all.

"After the Spring Festival holiday, as the number of travelers decreases, the prices of flights, hotels, and other tourism products fall back to normal, prompting off-peak travel," said the person in charge of the Sanya City Tourism Promotion Board.

Although the Spring Festival holiday has ended, there is still a “feast” of holiday travel in the Sanya region. New landmarks and new ways for travelers to enjoy themselves are constantly emerging to meet the diverse, personalized needs of different tourists. Sanya's Tianya Haijiaohas launched a camping project in cooperation with other companies, giving travelers the chance to get close to nature, sleeping outdoors with the sky providing the perfect, spangled blanket.
