Before the Lunar New Year, Lim Chiew Ah, President of the Federation of Hainan Association Malaysia, invited nearby Hainanese to her home to share some authentic Hainanese dishes and experience traditional Spring Festival customs.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lim and most of the Hainanese people in Malaysia have been unable to return to their hometowns for more than a year. On the occasion of the traditional Chinese New Year, they wanted to extend New Year’s greetings and wishes to their relatives and friends in Hainan as well as to other Hainanese around the world through making a video.

At the end of the video, Lim sang a verse of Hainan Opera with two senior Hainan Opera artists, wishing their fellow Hainanese around the world a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Lim Chiew Ah is an Overseas Communication Officers of the Hainan International Media Center, and is dedicated to promoting the traditional culture of Hainan in Malaysia.
