Meitie Village, located at Dazhipo Town, Haikou City, is over 700 years old, and was the earliest trading center in the history of Haikou. It used to hold pawnshops, rice shops, and stages.

Not only was the village economically prosperous, but it was also culturally attractive. There is a commemorative archway for the village's only successful candidate in the highest imperial civil service examination in the Ming Dynasty. In addition, in the village stands a coconut carving studio where the handicraft included in the list of Hainan's intangible cultural heritage items is passed on.

Now, Meitie Village, like the symbolic meaning of its Chinese name: "putting beautiful things together", is a place of beautiful scenery and charming culture, which has earned it a place on the list of the ten most beautiful villages in Haikou. Plus, a unique homestay has been opened in a traditional local home.

Let's follow Tommy Coleman, guest host of the Hainan International Media Center, as he explores this quaint, picturesque village.
