According to the latest update from the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration, three port areas at Sanya Port, including Nanshan, Yinggehai, and Qingshui Bay, were officially opened to international vessels starting July 3, 2026.
The move expands Sanya Port from a single international port area into a coordinated multi-port gateway, strengthening southern Hainan's maritime connectivity while creating new opportunities for global shipping, port industries, and coastal tourism.
Each of the three port areas includes specific open waters, berths, anchorages, and navigation channels to facilitate the smooth arrival and departure of international vessels.
The Nanshan Port Area includes the Nanshan and Hongtang sections, which are separate and not physically linked. It features cargo terminals, Ro-Ro berths, and dedicated oil terminals, making it capable of managing international cargo and petroleum shipments.
The Yinggehai Port Area is mainly focused on energy-related shipping activities, supported by the Ledong Power Plant terminal.
The Qingshui Bay Port Area features 299 yacht berths and specializes in international yacht arrivals and berthing services, highlighting its significance in the marine tourism sector.
All three port areas are equipped with dedicated anchorages and navigation channels, offering consistent and dependable support to promote the safe and efficient movement of international shipping operations.
