Boao Super Hospital

The ALS Multidisciplinary Consultation Center of the Boao Super Hospital officially opened inside the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone (also known as Boao Hope City), in Bo'ao Town, Qionghai City, Hainan Province, near the main area of the Boao Forum for Asia. The Center will make the most of the policy advantages of Hope City and Boao Super Hospital to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment to ALS patients.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or Lou Gehrig's disease), is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease. The disease is caused by the degeneration of motor neurons in the central nervous system that controls skeletal muscles. Due to the degeneration and death of upper and lower motor neurons, the muscles gradually weaken, atrophy, and even become paralyzed.

The foundational support for the ALS Center is provided by the neurology department of the hospital, and the Center also integrates the respiratory, gastroenterology, critical care, TCM, and neuropsychology departments to jointly provide diagnoses, treatment, rehabilitation, and psychological support for ALS patients.
