At 12 o'clock noon on August 16, a three-and-half-month moratorium on fishing in the South China Sea waters ended. To control the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hainan COVID-19 Pandemic Prevention and Control Headquarters issued a notice stating that from August 16 to August 22, all fishing ports (including natural harbors, ports, wharfs, etc.) and all fishing vessels (including fishing boats, fishery auxiliary vessels, recreational fishing boats, unregistered vessels, and fishing boats from other provinces moored in Hainan, etc.) in Hainan Province will remain under static management. With the exception of vessels guaranteeing basic navigation services, vessels engaged in pandemic prevention and control, and in cases of special emergency, no fishing vessels shall be allowed to put out to sea without permission until further notice.
