A slam-dunk success of a three day event in the capital city of south China's Hainan Province kicked off on Friday at Haikou's International Convention and Exhibition Center. As the first sports themed imported goods expo, the China (Hainan) Sporting Goods and Equipment Import Expo (CSEIE) was off like a shot from a starting pistol with 8 international exhibitor groups and over 300 companies from China and other countries.

Sending a video message congratulating the Expo on meeting its goals, Yu Zaiqing (IOC Vice-President and Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee member) said: “As the high-quality development of sports relies on the supply of cutting-edge sporting goods, equipment and technology as well as the popularization of sports culture, this expo featuring the Hainan Olympic Sports Science and Technology Forum will help promote the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.”
Held by taking advantage of the preferential policies Hainan has enacted as the island travels towards building both the world’s largest free trade port and an international center of tourism and consumption, Sun Ying (Director of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province) stated at the opening ceremony that one of Hainan's next steps will be further improving facilities across the province so as to develop the tropical island into a paradise for professional winter sports training.
Gathering global high-end sports resources in a great big scrum of light and color, the expo's 37,000 square meters of displays showcased a diverse selection of imported international brands, Sino-foreign joint venture brands, and domestic brands.
Owing to the duty-free policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the expo also offered visitors the ability to enjoy an on-site duty-free shopping experience. Given the products and brands on display, this was a huge draw for fans.

As well—in order to promote the Olympic spirit to the public—some of the China Sports Museum’s collections (including Olympic torches, Olympic medals and the trophies from numerous world-class competitions) will be on display throughout the Expo.
