Liuke Village, Qionghai City

Location: Liuke Village, Bo’ao Town, Qionghai City, is located on the lower reaches of the Wanquan River. It’s adjacent to the venue of the Boao Forum for Asia and the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, and across the river from Lecheng Island, where the ancient Lehui County Office was located.

The Cai Family Residence covers an area of 50,000 square meters and consists of five parts: the Cai Family Garden, the Ancient Chongyang Tree, the Tropical Rare Fruit Garden, the Cai Family House, and the Liuke House. The Cai Family House was built in 1934 and is reputed to be the first house built by overseas Chinese in Hainan. It consists of a total of four buildings, built by the Indonesian Chinese businessman Mr. Cai Jiasen along with his three brothers. In May 2006, the Cai Family House was protected as a national key cultural relic.

Overseas Chinese Style

The over 400-year-old village of Liuke has an abundance of age-old treasures such as ancient ferries, giant hoary trees, historic houses, and more. It is also a famous Hainan overseas Chinese village with more than 2,000 overseas Chinese from more than 20 countries and regions such as Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The village has strong overseas Chinese cultural roots.

Boji (Bamboo Basket) Banquet

At the farm, you can enjoy the Boji Banquet, a special Li family meal which is served on a basket made of bamboo, a material commonly used by the Li people. The basket is lined with fresh banana leaves, which are smooth and clean, and then piled high with foods such as chicken, duck, roasted tilapia, marinated chicken eggs, green vegetables, dessert, pineapples, small tomatoes, and more. The color, aroma, and flavors are sure to please all your senses at once.

Tunchang County

Location: Tunchang Fragrance Culture Park is located in Galipo, Tunchang County, Hainan Province. It’s 74 kilometers from Haikou City and takes about 50 minutes to drive there. It is only 6 kilometers from the center of Tunchang County, or about 10 minutes by car.

The Park covers an area of around 433,333 square meters., including 200,000 square meters of lemon orchards, 133,333 square meters of farmland where ten different kinds of aromatic herbs grow, five thousand 15-year old Chinese eaglewood trees, and 66,666 square meters of tropical fruit orchards.

Outdoor activities

The park has a lemon processing workshop supporting the lemon industry, where handmade lemon products are made. Here families and friends can enjoy picking lemons, making lemon cookies, brewing lemon tea, and all manner of other lemon-scented fun together.

Local free-range chickens, ducks, geese, Tunchang Huangling farm black pigs, and reservoir fish head cooked with spices and lemons are quite popular with diners. The fish head dish, which was named one of Tunchang's "Top Ten Famous Dishes" at the 2016 Hainan Agricultural Expo, is an experience you have to try at least once in your life!
