China's island province Hainan has been drawing lots of interest at the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF). The largest and most influential cultural platform across the country, this year's ICIF began on Thursday in Shenzhen on the central coast of the southern province of Guangdong.

As the island is traditionally known in terms of tourism for its blue skies, blue ocean, golden beaches, and green coconut trees, these and other tropical elements were integrated into design of the fair's Hainan Pavilion. However, Hainan's reason for being at the fair is to showcase several exhibitions on the Hainan Free Trade Port's policies and latest achievements. Attracting the attention of many visitors, the pavilion also has exhibits on culture + sci-tech and culture + tourism industries, as well as creative cultural products and artworks such as carved Hainanese agarwood and rosewood, carved coconuts, carved seashells, local red clay ceramics, and the folk songs and dances of the Li ethnic group.
