Expats are eligible to take the professional qualification exam for tax accountants in the Hainan Free Trade Port (Hainan FTP) as of this year, according to the latest measures issued by authorities.

Expats working and living legally in the Hainan FTP or who plan to live and work here, as well as the international students in China are all eligible to take the exam. After they pass the examination, they will be issued a special certificate for international tax accountants only valid in the Hainan FTP, which proves that they have the knowledge and ability to engage in tax-related professional services on the island.

Eligible international candidates will take the same exam, and be evaluated according to the same metrics, as domestic candidates. In addition, their international work experience will count the same as domestic experience.
