Located in Chengmai County, the Mangrove Bay Wetland Park, about an-hour drive from downtown Haikou, features a beautiful mangrove landscape, rare birds, fresh air, and all sorts of recreation.

A few years ago, about 100 Cuban flamingos were specially brought from Cuba to live in the park. Since the natural ecological environment of the park matches the original living environment of the flamingos very well, they are thriving here in Hainan.

According to staff of the Mangrove Bay Wetland Park, now is the breeding season for this group of flamingos. After 28-32 days of natural outdoor incubation, the first flamingo chick of the year broke out of his shell in a rainstorm on April 26. In the month since then, the good news kept on coming as a total of 20 flamingo chicks hatched one after the other, making it a very joyful summer in the park.
