On May 11, a Hainan Haifeng Shipping Co., LTD. ship smoothly cleared customs at the Haikou customs administered Macun Port, making it the first “zero tariff” container ship to enter the Hainan Free Trade Port. The ship was valued at 65 million yuan, and saw a tax reduction of 15 million yuan.

“After the release of the Master Plan for the Construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, we closely followed this policy, and Haikou Customs also kept in frequent touch with us. In May, 2021, we successfully brought the first “zero tariff” ship into the Hainan Free Trade Port. This had great benefits for our company while also allowing us to fulfill our social responsibilities, ” said a representative of the Hainan Haifeng Shipping Co., LTD.

On Dec. 25, 2020, a new policy came into effect, allowing qualified FTP registered companies to import certain ships, vehicles, aircraft, and yachts for use in transport and tourism without paying any tariffs. In order to implement the policy effectively, Haikou Customs streamlined the customs clearing process, strengthened corporate guidance, and provided demonstrations in order to assist more companies to receive tax benefits.
