The First China International Consumer Products Expo has attracted a myriad of top global brands who brought their latest and finest products to showcase at the Expo. There were even some prestigious hundred-year-old brands which were real eye-catchers at the Expo. HIMC has started a series of exclusive interviews with the executives of those brands, hosted by Olga, a popular Mandarin-speaking bilingual TV host and an HIMC Communication Officer.

This episode is extremely special! Why? First of all, it is because this brand is one of the oldest as well as the fifth largest cosmetics company in the world. The second reason is because we had the great honor to have an exclusive interview with the president and CEO of this company. The brand is — Shiseido, the largest cosmetics and personal care firm in Japan. It was founded in 1872 in Ginza, Tokyo, and nowadays operates in approximately 120 countries and regions around the world. Even more exciting, Shiseido is going to celebrate its 150th anniversary next year (yes, it’s a real century-old, even a century and a half year-old brand), which makes our interview even more meaningful. The President & CEO of Shiseido China, Mr. Kentaro Fujiwara, has kindly accepted our interview. Fujiwara san, arigatou gozaimasu!

In the conversation with Olga (Olga also speaks some Japanese during the interview, which is a highlight of the interview), Mr. Fujiwara shared his impressions of Hainan and China in general, and shared the expectations of Shiseido participating in the Hainan Expo. He introduced two new brands — sustainable BAUM and minimalist luxury THE GINZA which have just been launched in China for the very first time here, at the Hainan Expo. Olga and Mr. Fujiwara talked about the beauty industry and the cosmetics market in China as well, including Hainan’s new island departure duty-free policy. Mr. Fujiwara also shared Shiseido’s future plans and projects in China as this year marks the 40th anniversary of Shiseido’s entry into the Chinese market. So what kind of surprises will Shiseido bring to its fans in China? Check out the video and find out!
