The first China International Consumer Products Expo has attracted many international high-end brands from various industries. Being an excellent tourist destination, Hainan has many things to offer to its visitors. In recent years, one of Hainan’s new and surprisingly affordable offerings has been yachts. The once unimaginable opportunity to rent—or even to purchase—a yacht is no longer a fantastic dream.

Hanse Yachts AG is a famous German yacht manufacturer. Globally, the second largest builder of sailing yachts, Hanse had some of their products on display at the Hainan Expo. While on site, they even managed to sign some impressive deals! A particularly noteworthy event that happened during the expo came about due to the new local policy of charging "zero tariff" on vehicles and yachts. As a result of this police, the owner of a glorious Hanse 548 has saved around CNY 2.8 million off of the purchase price. This caused quite the stir!

Right after the signing ceremony regarding the purchase of this yacht, we interviewed the director of the Chinese Hanse Yachts distributor Xiamen Hone Uniness Marine Co. Ltd., Ms. Zhao Yu. During the interview, a grateful Ms Zhao thanked the Hainan government for enacting this excellent policy; she also introduced to us the Hainan yacht industry, the advantages and development potential of the Hainan yacht market, and some info about China’s ever more popular sailing culture.
