By Cai Rong, Lara / HICN / Updated: 18:11,18-April-2021

April 18th is the first day of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2021. This international Forum focuses the attention of the world on the town of Bo’ao, located in Qionghai City, Hainan Province. This is the home of the Boao Forum for Asia, one of the top ten cultural towns in Hainan, and a world-famous "diplomatic town".

In the 20 years since the Boao Forum for Asia was first held here in 2001, Bo’ao has undergone great changes, attracting many visitors from China and around the world. Let's follow in our host Lara's footsteps as she experiences the wonders of this town.

In this second episode of the Boao Buzz, Lara visits the Nanqiang Ecological Civilization Village which is located near Dongyu Island Resort in Bo’ao. This is one of several locations that have earned the title of “beautiful village” in Bo’ao. After the “beautiful villages” project was launched by the local government, Nanqiang Village was rebuilt, adding lots of new features that not only provide villagers much needed income but also attract many visitors.

Walking in Nanqiang Village, you can escape the fast-paced city lifestyle and enjoy the peacefulness of village life as well as visit several interesting local village attractions.

After you walk through the village, you will discover a surprise! It is a large field of blooming flowers! The field of flowers is a good place to take some beautiful photos. So please take your camera or mobile phone and take your very own beautiful, creative photos!

This is the perfect choice if you want to give tropical village life a go!

Lara’s note:

Exploring the pathways between all the little old village houses swept me into another era. Getting lost and finding my way at the same time  had me laughing at myself as I walked in circles. Every corner lead to a surprise and every dead-end made me determined to explore more. My encounters with the villagers along the way made my trip all the more delightful and every statue greeted me with a smile and a story. What I found most unique about Nanqiang village is that one moment you’re surrounded by beautiful stone cottages and the next, you find yourself wrapped up in the tropical flora. It turns out a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, was nothing compared to the treasure I found. I stood in awe of a field of flowers that took my breath away and had me at a loss for words.
