The Fourth Session of the Sixth People's Congress of Hainan Province commenced in Haikou on January 24 as scheduled, and will continue through January 28. During the preparations for the Hainan Two Sessions, all attendees underwent COVID-19 nucleic acid testing. This time, the Hainan Government Work Report will be published during the session.

During the gathering of the Provincial People’s Congress, major provincial legislation will be ratified and the provincial government will set major economic targets. It is also a good time for the announcement of major policy initiatives in Hainan. The main topics of discussion this year will likely center on the economy, social development, and preparations for the 14th Hainan Five-Year Plan.

Zhang Changfeng, a deputy of Hainan Provincial People's Congress, said the government report is a “concise, solid and realistic” reflection of Hainan's accomplishment in 2020 and throughout the period of the 13th Five-Year Plan.

Zhang said the proposed 14th Five-Year Plan of Hainan is practical and feasible.

“We, as deputies, are thrilled and excited to see those plans,” said Zhang, “we must push forward with all the work that needs to be done in strict accordance with the requirements of the report.”
